Golden Jubilee Wedding Celebration, 8 September 2014

News

In 1964, on the feast of the Birthday of Our Lady, a young officer from the Air Corps, Lieut. Fergus P. O’Connor, married Helen White, of Merlyn Park, in Our Lady Queen of Peace. Now living in Arklow, they came back to our church on their anniversary to celebrate and give thanks to God for those 50 years of married life.
It was a joyful occasion. The Mass was celebrated by Fr Fergus, who apart from having the same name as the groom also retired from the Defence Forces as a Commandant. At the end of the Mass Helen was presented with a beautiful bouquet, which included some golden flowers, by Miryam Fitzgerald on behalf of the parish.
