Recent Parish Priests

V. Rev. Fergus O’Connor

Fr Fergus is a native of Dublin and was appointed parish priest in September 2008, when the Opus Dei Prelature was invited by Archbishop Martin to look after Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish.

He is a former Cavalry Officer and retired in 1980 with the rank of Commandant. He has served with the United Nations in Cyprus and completed the Cours des Capitaines at the French Army Armoured School at Saumur. A UCD Commerce graduate, he also has a doctorate in Moral Theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross.

Ordained priest in 1990 by St John Paul II in St Peter’s Basilica, Rome, he has worked mainly in Ireland. He has been on numerous workcamps with students in Peru and Uganda and spent 2 years in Kenya as a chaplain for 2nd and 3rd level students in 2004-5.

Fr Fergus was parish priest for 15 years and retired in September 2023 after his 75th birthday. He returned to pastoral work in the Opus Dei Prelature, while still helping out in Our Lady Queen of Peace.

V. Rev. Seamus Canon Moore PE (+ 31 July 2017)

Fr Seamus studied Philosophy at UCD (B.A.) and Theology at Pontifical Urban University, Rome (S.T.L.)

Ordained 1957 in Rome for the Archdiocese of Dublin. Appointed Chaplain to Rathnew and Chapelizod and then Assistant Priest at Raheny. Served as Curate to Donard, Cabra West, Clontarf.

Appointed Parish Priest at Rowlagh and then finally arrived in Merrion Road as Parish Priest in 1991.

Fr Seamus served the people of Our Lady Queen of Peace with great dedication over many years. After his retirement in 2008, as Pastor Emeritus, he continued this service and celebrated Mass in our parish several times a week and looked forward to meeting and chatting with our parishioners -his friends- after Mass.

In February 2016 he was appointed to the Metropolitan Chapter as Canon of Rathmichael.

Canon Seamus died on 31 July 2017.was
