Sacraments
The Latin word sacramentum means ‘a sign of the sacred’. The seven sacraments of the Church are outward signs, instituted by Christ, that confer grace upon those who receive them.
“The sacraments are efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us. The visible rites by which the sacraments are celebrated signify and make present the graces proper to each sacrament. They bear fruit in those who receive them with the required dispositions”. [Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 1131]
Receiving the Sacraments while Ill or Housebound
Ill health should never separate a person from the Sacraments. If you (or a member of your family) are housebound and would like one of the priests to call with Holy Communion on the First Friday, please contact the Parish Office at 01 269 1825.
If you would like to receive the Sacraments of the Anointing of the Sick, Penance or Holy Communion while you are in a Nursing Home or ill at home, please call the Parish Office and it will be arranged.
